NORTHOLT CLOCKTOWER, EALING

Northolt's clock is ticking on timeless transformation

Products: Indian Sandstone, Chinese Granite

Contractor: Murrill Construction

Client: Ealing Council

As part of the UK government's Levelling Up Fund, aimed at driving economic growth, Ealing Council embarked on a Visions for Northolt initiative to redesign the streetscape.

The project focused on enhancing the appearance and functionality of the shopping parade on Ealing Road and surrounding areas with new paving materials and street furniture, as well as revitalising the Village Green area including the park surrounding the historic clock tower on Mandeville Road. The clock tower was built in 1937 to commemorate the Coronation of King George VI and is at the centre of Northolt Village Green- the very heart of the community. It is a focal point for the area and a meeting place for local residents.

The project was meticulously installed by Murrill Construction, with Tectonix supplying just over 1,000 square metres of Encosta Sandstone. The paving was laid adjacent to 650 linear metres of Tectonix Shanny kerb, creating a cohesive, visually appealing, and modernised streetscape.

Matt Mason, Contracts Manager at Murrill Construction, remarked, "The tight turnaround times on this project were challenging, but Tectonix's support in material selection and supply was invaluable. Their Encosta Sandstone provided both the durability we needed and the aesthetic quality that Ealing Council desired."
